Capturing a custom hat maker!

Meet Ryan McGrath of Trovador

“I’ve always been drawn to design and vintage aesthetics that carry its own intricate narrative. Inspired by musical icons and western styles having been raised in Texas & Oklahoma where cowboy hats are a way of life, hat making developed from the search for a creative outlet. Through experiences with woodworking, glass blowing, and throwing clay, I found a passion working with my hands.  Materials are sourced ethically from credible sources, beaver felts and South American straws.

My goal is to make quality designs that outstep trends, incorporate your story, and compliment your image.”

Creating the short film: HEALING WITH TWO WHEELS

In Austin, Texas, Motorcycle Missions is giving vets and first responders new skills and a new lease on life.

Some have attended to accidents with fatalities too horrific to discuss. Others have witnessed people being beaten, tortured and stabbed. Still others have had to puke into the nearest trash can when the shrapnel inside them got too painful to bear.

All the men taking part in a recent motorcycle build in Austin, Texas, have survived experiences more harrowing than imaginable. And they’ve struggled, each day since, to put those experiences behind them. They do it so they can move on — earn a living, raise a child, find hope in a world that seems relentlessly hopeless.

The good news is, the determined souls taking part in this night’s Motorcycle Missions event are struggling far less than they were just two months ago. That’s because the program has equipped them with mechanical know-how that’s already benefiting them beyond the shop’s doors. It’s also introduced them to a band of brothers who know what they’ve been through . . . and are still going through.

“Many of these veterans and first responders experience nights when they hope they won’t wake up,” she says. “So we take goofy pics of everyone doing something stupid during a build. We encourage them to bring their kids along to be a part of a build or ride out.

“If any of that helps to ease someone’s pain — or save their life, even — then it’s definitely been worth all the effort.”

Pushing my boundaries.

As a photographer it is very easy to shoot the same stuff over and over. I have been actively working to not allow that to happen. Here is some of the new stuff I have been working on.

Featured in this gallery is Devin & Nell at SHDW studios.

A long awaited project finally goes public.

I was hired by Sony music to cover Willie Nelson and others during a tribute concert at ACL Live.

A month of model testing.

PACT Clothing fall catalog shoot.

Dalton was hired by PACT clothing out of Colorado to photograph their fall lineup for a brand new site redesign. The goal was to shoot almost 200 items both on and off the models in three days.

About PACT:

PACT is obsessed with a big idea: super soft organic cotton that makes the world a better place. Socks with soul, altruistic underwear and other everyday essentials ethically manufactured with fabrics that feel good and go easy on the environment. Sounds good? Oh it is.

In fact, co-founder Jeff Denby created PACT to turn bad into good. After spending years working in the international manufacturing business with its questionable working conditions and environmental policies, Jeff decided it was time for a change. And change starts with your underwear. So at PACT our manufacturing process is designed to be good from seed to shelf. We care about our clothes so much we pretty much follow them wherever they go so customers can not only feel good in PACT but also feel good about where PACT came from.

PACT is good design for good people.

Torrie for Inked Australia

Torrie and Dalton have been shooting together for years. Earlier this year a publication called Inked Australia contacted them both to do a cover shoot and interview for the Sept 2015 issue. The internet allows for wonderful collaborations.

Shooting portraits for Sony Music

Dalton was recently commissioned to create a series of portraits of artists playing at the Waylon Jennings tribute concert in Austin, Texas. For this event Dalton's team created a custom photo set  in order to capture the portraits.

On Monday, July 6, 2015, a collection of music’s legendary outlaws and rising superstars came together for a once-in-a-lifetime concert event at ACL Live At The The Moody Theater in Austin, TX, to honor Waylon Jennings, one of the most influential musicians of the Outlaw Country movement. The concert event was filmed and recorded for multi-platform distribution throughout traditional and digital media.

OUTLAW: CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF WAYLON JENNINGS featured performances by: Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Toby Keith, Eric Church, Kacey Musgraves, Ryan Bingham, Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson, Lee Ann Womack, Chris Stapleton, Shooter Jennings, and Jessi Colter.

Grammy Award-winner Don Was served as co-music director and led an all-star band backing the performers at this concert event. Legendary music producer Buddy Cannon also served as co-music director. “Waylon Jennings was my friend, brother, and musical soul mate”, said Willie Nelson. “Playing his songs with these incredible artists, is going to be one hell of a concert event.”
